A Colorful Turn for Theda Learn!

Hi everybody!
I’m having a hard time figuring out how to start this post. Why, you ask? 🤔 Well, Theda Learn originally started as an educational resource to help children better understand death and grief.
I know, a heavy topic! But I used to teach Families & End of Life Issues at the college level, and many of my students would tell me they wished they had learned more about these topics when they were younger. They said it would have helped them feel less afraid of death.
So I created Theda Learn to give kids and parents a gentle, kid-friendly way to learn about death and grief. Around the same time, I also started teaching Canva classes on Outschool.
A quick rundown:
Canva: An easy-to-use graphic design platform
Outschool: An online learning platform for kids
Anyway, my Canva classes quickly became more popular than my death education materials, so I shifted my focus to creative digital design. I’m not saying goodbye to death education - it’s just not where I’m putting my energy right now.
I thought about changing the name Theda, since it was originally built from the letters in “death” (which I thought was pretty clever, even if no one else knew!). But since I had already registered the name and built my business around it, I decided to keep it.
Now, Theda Learn is evolving into a creative education service. Right now, I’m focused on helping kids explore creativity through digital design. At some point, I may add back a section on death education - or maybe even branch into something totally new! I always have ideas brewing.
So, if you’ve stumbled across Theda Learn or browsed past blog posts and were a little confused, now you know what’s going on!
Talk again soon! 🩵
Christy
